2 1/2 years

This little girl is 2 1/2 years old.
Sof took this picture of herself the other day.

She is absolutely the cutest, smartest, bravest, funniest, wittiest, sweetest, most lovable and strongest 2 1/2 year old that I know. She talks so much these days and is so full of love and energy. She loves her baby sister so much that when I wake her up in the morning, if I don't have Ruby with me, the first thing she asks is "Where Ruby go?" It's pretty adorable. Here are some things that I want to remember that she's currently saying and or doing lately.

In the morning she asks everyone (Ruby, me, the dog...) if they slept good. "Good morning, Ruby. Did you sleep good?"

If she's trying to refuse a nap and I come back in to her room to settle her down, she tries to get out of napping by telling me that she napped good. She'll stretch, raising her arms up, gives me a fake yawn, sigh and say "I had a good nap. I sleep good. No more nap time."

When something catches her attention, she'll put her hand to her ear, cup it and say "I hear ____!" I find this to be super adorable.

She loves singing! Especially Lady Antebellum's song "Compass" and Tangled's "I see the light".

She loves her baby dolls and will "breastfeed" them, burp them, hug them and tell them they're getting so big.

She loves sneaking up on me, which usually consists of her staring directly in my eyes as she moves slowly towards me in a slightly crouched walk.

She loves being chased. When she says "Oh no! Mommy's gonna get you!" I know that's her way of inviting me to play chase.

There's so much more because it seems she does something new for me to gush over each week. I love her so very much and am overjoyed that I get to spend my days with her and her little sis.

6 months

This is a couple weeks late, but this little beauty is 6 months old now.

She has been sitting since 4 1/2 months, can scoot in circles, shimmy herself backward when on her belly and walk forward in her walker. She eats like a champ and loves puffs. She loves her pets (the ones that let her touch them), her pianos, books, her big sister and anything her sister is playing with. She's also sleeping through the night and cutting her first tooth. I felt the sharpness coming through yesterday. Ruby-doos is growing so fast and brings us so much joy and tons of laughter. I'm excited each and every day and look forward to watching our girls grow together.

FB free and a short sleep training recap

Wednesday was my first day completely Facebook free. It is freeing, but has shown me that I don't spend as much time on there as I imagined. I'm still super busy and some things still don't get done each day, but I guess that's just the way things go when you have a toddler, let alone a toddler, a baby and a husband who works randome hours any give day. I'm still glad I'm doing this break. It has made sticking to our new schedule so much easier since I'm able to keep a better eye on the clock. Plus, I've had some time to get crafty again. That has been pretty awesome. I'm almost done with this little octopus. I added two more legs, but need to add another and close her up. This is my fist attempt at something like this. I'm actually kind of proud of it.

I also started sleep training my sweet little baby. I couldn't continue waking every 1 - 2 hours a night, every night.
Quick recap. Night one sucked. Lots of crying in the beginning and quite a bit of wake ups throughout the night. Night two sucked too. Same as night one, except a million more wake ups and only 3 hours of sleep for me, which I got when I turned off the sound on the monitor at 3am and slept until 6. That was a hard choice to make, but our room is close to hers so I figured I'd hear her if she got too upset. She didn't and I was able to get some sleep so I could function the rest of the day (I miss my naps). Night 3 wasn't so bad. I actually had some good sleep breaks. Night 4 and 5 were awesome. Lots of sleep for us both. I didn't even have to go into her room once last night. There was one point I headed to her room at 5am, but stopped before turning the knob because she had settled down on her own. Now were on night 6 and things kind of got off track. We had to run errands in between naps, which worked ok, but we let her nap a bit too long and that threw off bedtime. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed I still get some sleep tonight. Overall I will say that I'm really happy with this whole thing. I could do without the crying and fussing for 45 mins, but the sleep that comes is worth it for me.

February edition of Ten on ten.

My days blur together and I hardly ever know what the actual date is. Thankfully I saw a couple of these floating around a moment ago and have about 45 minutes until midnight, so I still get to join in the 10 on 10 fun.

Work in progress

Goodbye FB...app

I did it. I deleted the FB app off my phone. I've been wanting to do it for a while now and today I finally did. I have two sick little girls right now and I had spent the morning more engaged in the FB world than in them. Don't get me wrong. I took their temps, suctioned boogs and gave them Tylenol, but while Ruby was whining and Sofia was pulling all her toys out of the toy box in her room, I was watching videos and checking everyone's status on FB. As soon as I realized it was time for lunch and I had no clear memory of the morning, I opened my phone and deleted the app. I know I can easily log in through the web browser, but the quickest route is now off my phone. I will still check in from time to time, but the point if this is to live my life a little less distracted. I know my family will only benifit from this.

Here's a picture of the happiest sick baby I know....until you have to suction boogs.

Sofia at 2.

This is about 4 months late, but I wanted to share some things about our silly little girl. She loves mommy, daddy and most of all, her baby sister Ruby. Her favorite shows are Mickey Mouse clubhouse, Bubble Guppies, Doc McStuffins and Team Umizoomi. Her favorite movies are Monsters Inc., Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Finding Nemo. She enjoys going to Disneyland, drawing (color paper?), playing with her babies, giving check ups, digging in the dirt, running around outside, counting, singing, dancing and puzzles. She tells stories and can repeat almost any word or small sentence that we ask her to. She's a huge help with putting dishes in the sink or getting diapers and wipes for Ruby. She's also sleeping in her toddler bed and made that transition smoothly. She's growing up so fast, but it's so much fun watching it happen. We love this girl!

January 10 on 10

I'm jumping on this 10 on 10 bandwagon too....
1)
Sof's first visit to Disneyland was when she was just about 6 weeks old. Ruby's first visit was when she was a couple weeks shy of 5 months old. I hope we can take a picture like this for years to come.

2-4)

This girl is in love with Mickey! We had passed him by and waved to him, trying to get on a ride, but she kept calling out for Mickey. We just had to go back to actually meet him. She hasn't stopped talking about him since. She's also so brave when it comes to meeting some of her favorite characters. When other kids refuse to stand in line, she's screaming and laughing with excitement. She turns shy once she gets up to them, but she's still so happy to finally be meeting them.

5)
She's a pro at sitting up on her own. This happened so fast!

6)
Always so full of smiles!

7-8)
She loves animals so much! A girl after my own heart!
9)
Says "cheese!" I love that she loves to take pictures with me.
10)
Everyone loves post bath babies, right?
I know I do. ❤️
